From our Chapter President, Linda Soileau

Thank you for visiting the New Orleans Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA)! I am pleased to be serving as President this year and look forward to working with our Chapter leaders and Members in providing excellent resources and networking opportunities for current and prospective members. If you are a legal management professional looking to increase your knowledge, skills and abilities in such areas as operations management, human resources, financial management, legal industry trends and communications, you have come to the right place! The ALA serves more than 9,000 legal management professionals and is dedicated to providing products, services, and resources to its members throughout the legal profession. The New Orleans Chapter of the ALA was founded more than 40 years ago and currently has 125 members. The Chapter also offers affiliate memberships to fellow ALA members living in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Mobile, and Pensacola.

The New Orleans Chapter of the ALA provides a diverse and inclusive environment where members can enhance their professional development through offerings of quality educational programs, mentoring and leadership development, and ALA’s unique Certified Legal Manager CLM program. Our Chapter provides scholarship opportunities for members to attend Regional and Annual Conferences hosted by the national ALA organization. In addition to various educational offerings the New Orleans Chapter produces an annual Salary Survey of attorney and non-attorney positions that will assist you in determining where your firm salaries fall within the market. ALA also partners with local and national businesses to bring awareness to products and services that bring value to our firms in the legal profession, and our Chapter hosts an annual Business Partner Expo that highlights the services of 70 vendors in one place! Our Members and Business Partners often work together on volunteer activities directly impacting those in need through the Chapter’s Community Connections program. The New Orleans Chapter of the ALA also provides a wealth of resources on its website such as newsletters, current articles and publications, as well as a place to register for upcoming events such as the monthly educational luncheons, half-day seminars, our annual Retreat and the annual Business Partner Expo. It is also a place to network with other legal professionals about best practices and list job openings.

When you join the The New Orleans Chapter of ALA, you and your law firm management will benefit from the variety and wealth of resources available through the national and local chapter for years to come. I feel that the New Orleans Chapter provides a little “lagniappe”, as we say in New Orleans, which means giving something extra for good measure!
