ALA President's Message 2019

Welcome to the New Orleans Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA)! Please feel free to visit our website, where by just clicking on a link, you can find a wide-range of information regarding our chapter.

As I sat down to type my message to our Chapter, my thoughts drifted to our Past-Presidents and I became a little overwhelmed with the expectation of filling such “LARGE” shoes. All I could think about was Bonnie’s “puzzle pieces” and Renee’s “mosquito”! Although I do not have a motto or theme, I am honored to step into their shoes and serve as this year’s President. I look forward to working with our Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Members in providing you with the resources you need to be a strong, effective and influential leader/manager.

Our Chapter has been my “toolkit” since the day I joined (considering I had no legal experience whatsoever when I began at the law firm). By attending meetings and using our association as a “networking” tool, I felt as though I had my own “support team” to rely on. But this is just the beginning - the ALA offers a multitude of educational opportunities by attending conferences, monthly luncheons, CLM study groups, webinars or just reaching out to a member. The ALA-NOLA website is also packed with a plethora of information waiting to assist you regardless of your firm size, whether you are a plaintiff or defense firm, commercial or non-profit, etc. It provides links to our calendar of events, newsletters, photos, Business Partners and much more. We are just a click away!!!

Another very important part of our Chapter is the relationship between Chapter Members and Business Partners. In an effort to build a solid working relationship with our Business Partners, the BP Committee, Board of Directors and I, are all working towards implementing new ideas best fit to meet the needs of our Chapter. It is through their sponsorships that we are able to provide scholarships to members to attend the National & Regional Conferences, host monthly educational luncheons and have our retreat. Our 2019 BP Expo is going to be at Mardi Gras World overlooking the Mississippi River and we are very excited about this event!

If you stumble across a committee that sparks, an interest please contact me. We are always looking for volunteers and encourage members to get involved. The best way to get to know your Chapter is by being hands on.
